WLT Consulting Assistance Provides The Following

For the past 25 years, Wilma Townsend, President of WLT Consulting has consulted in the areas of mental health recovery and especially in the development of a recovery-based system of care, cultural competence, and consumer operated services and businesses.

Wilma and WLT Consulting focuses on making systems recovery oriented through assessments, training, consultation, and other tools that she found to provide results.

WLT Consulting assists state governments in establishing a Medicaid reimbursed Peer Support Service. This includes negotiations with the Medicaid staff; assisting and development of a peer support certification process, and many other functions.

Wilma assists mental health agencies and authorities in the establishment of measurements for consumer outcomes, and consumer involvement in the provision of services.

Under her consultation, local providers learn to build and expand internal mechanisms for performance improvement and outcomes measurement.

WLT facilitates negotiations among key stakeholders including the participating county governments, local providers, consumers, families and other community agencies. They will support the development of recommendations for improving partnerships among service system stakeholders.

They will assist state, county authorities and local providers in making recommendations for changes in their policies, procedures and regulations that pose barriers to consumer’s recovery including their community integration.

They facilitate staff and other stakeholder processes in developing a vision and values that would assure consumer and family access to - and choice of - evidence-based best-practice mental health services.

WLT conducts training on recovery and consumer empowerment.

Assists in the establishment and development of consumer operated services and business.

Hope....the Essence of Recovery

Recovery Institute is an outgrowth of
WLT Consulting, LLC

When I established Recovery Institute in 1999, I contemplated a mission that would describe my vision for the behavioral healthcare system.  The word that continually surfaced in my mind was...HOPE.

HOPE is "a wish of desire accompanied by confident expectation of its fulfillment".  The mission of Recovery Institute is HOPE..........

  • Hope that assures recovery is possible.
  • Hope that permits and promotes mental health awareness.
  • Hope that developes resources for consumers, peer specialists, and their families.
  • Hope that facilitates training and education of the workforce on mental wellness and recovery.

Hope Abides
Hope abides, therefore I abide.
Countless frustrations have not cowed me.
I am still alive, vibrant with life.
The black cloud will disappear,
The morning sun will appear once again
In all its supernal glory.
